Doddinghurst Village Bus

The Village Bus is operated under the auspices of the Parish Council to provide day trips for the residents of Doddinghurst to places of interest.

The service is run by local volunteers and makes no profit, with the fare charged covering the cost of the trip, plus incidentals such as membership of Brentwood Community Transport and Midas training for the drivers. Mini buses are provided either by Brentwood Community Transport or Blackmore Parish Council.

There are around ten trips a year and they usually include visits to shopping centres such as Bluewater, garden centres, and other places of interest.  Travelling time is normally under two hours, and we aim to return to Doddinghurst in the late afternoon.  Trips depart from the Village Hall car park at 10am unless otherwise stated.

Programmes are arranged at 6 monthly intervals and timetables are displayed on the Parish Council notice boards and social media.  The Doddinghurst Link publishes the timetable and you can download it here: Timetable January 2024

To reserve a place on any outing just phone the driver, whose name and contact number is given on the timetable. The vehicles are wheelchair accessible, but please discuss this with the driver at the time of booking.  Mobility scooters cannot be accommodated.

Pre-booking is essential. The ticket price covers the fare only.  Refreshments and any entrance fees are not included.  Bus passes are not valid on the Village Bus.

If you have any ideas or requests for destinations, please let us know!
